Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV) Diver

Diver Propulsion Vehicle diving introduces divers to planning and operating a DPV safely and efficiently. This course focuses on proper setup, towing technique, buoyancy control, and awareness so the scooter becomes a tool—not a distraction.

You’ll learn how to manage speed, distance, battery planning, and team positioning while keeping solid control of your depth, trim, and situational awareness. The goal is to expand range and capability without sacrificing precision.

The Fun Part

A DPV changes what “one dive” can look like. You can cover more bottom, explore larger areas, and reach parts of a site that would normally require a long swim—while still finishing the dive feeling fresh.

What You Learn

  • DPV setup, handling, and towing technique

  • Pre-dive checks and battery planning

  • Team procedures and positioning while scootering

  • Buoyancy, trim, and task loading considerations

  • Common problems and basic troubleshooting

Your Next Adventure

DPV is a natural pairing with Wreck Diver, Deep Diver, and Sidemount Diver, and it can become a serious tool as you move toward technical training.
